Dynamic Domain Nameserver is an Internet Name server for customers with changing Internet Addresses. It gives your computer a name on the Internet. Until now, only computers with static address numbers could be given names. It takes care of the details of adding your Internet Name to the global DNS system even if you have a dynamic address. Now other people can find your computer whenever it is connected. It is that easy! DNIP.NET support various records types below. A : A means 'a host Address'. You can fill it with your machine's ip address. And then your domain name will point that address and will be resolved as it. NS : NS means 'an authoritative Name Server'. If you define your address as NS type, your machine will be a sub name server. You must run your own name server with ns.yourdomain.dnip.net. And you will have the right any *.yourdomain.dnip.net from your name server. MX : MX means 'a Mail Exchanger'. It specifies where the mail for your hostname should go. For example if you had a hostname called hostname.dnip.net and you had it pointed to the machine alpha. But alpha was a busy server handling your web site and ftp site and you found that you needed to move the mail to another server called beta. So by setting the MX record for hostname.dnip.net to beta.isp.com you can send all the mail that would be sent to people@hostname.dnip.net to the machine beta. Hence what a MX record is used for. TTL : 'Time-to-live(TTL)' defines the length of time, in seconds, that the information in this resource record should be kept in a remote system's cache. If you want your updating result will be applied as soon as possible, reduce this value. And DNIP.NET also support directory services to aid your services. It is available at 'Search' menu. |
